Why This Role Matters The RNE (Registration, Numbers and Enablement) group within Vonage's Foundation Engineering department works across four core product domains: Registration, Numbers, Number Intelligence, and Know Your Customer (KYC). As a Staff Engineer, you will be a technical anchor for the team, shaping the architecture of our cloud-native platform and influencing engineering culture across the group.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and vision for the design and development of highly concurrent, distributed backend systems
- Drive and own significant architectural decisions, ensuring scalability, reliability and maintainability across the platform
- Lead performance optimisation initiatives and resolve the most complex system-level challenges
- Set the standard for testing practices, including Unit, Integration and Smoke tests, enabling fully automated promotion of code to production
- Define, evolve and enforce coding standards and engineering best practices across the team
- Act as a technical mentor and leader, supporting the growth of engineers at all levels
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering leadership to align technical strategy with business goals
- Provide out-of-hours support as part of an on-call rota.
